A programme exploring some jewels of 20^th century European choral music. There are familiar gems, like Duruflé’s Quatre Motets, Britten’s Hymn to the Virgin and Fauré’s Cantique, alongside less widely-known but equally beautiful works, including Kodaly’s deeply-felt Missa Brevis, written at the height of World War II, Villette’s melodious Hymne à la Vierge and Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas, a modern classic inspired by Duruflé’s setting of the same text.
